The Honolulu Jail or also known as the Honolulu Sheriff’s Detention Facility opened its doors finally in April of 1999. When it finally opened it was equipped with the latest and greatest surveillance technology and security as well.

How to Find Someone in Honolulu Jail
As of 2019, the Honolulu Jail does not offer an online roster to their friends and family of said inmates. If you are needing vital information, you should call up the facility directly to obtain what you are looking for.
Sending a Mail/Care Package
All mail that comes into the Honolulu Jail will be hand delivered to the inmate from Monday through Friday minus holidays.
Now, all outgoing mail will also be collected daily. All general mail will be required to be a pre-stamped postcard where the inmate can purchase through the jail’s commissary. All legal mail can be written in letter form.
Sending Money
To send an inmate money, you will be required to use Smart Deposit. Smart Deposit is a service that will allow you to easily and efficiently send money to an inmate in just a few simple steps. You can send money over the internet, over the phone, or by using one of the kiosks.
Phone calls
All phone calls that an inmate will make will be monitored. These calls are limited by the correctional staff to 15-minutes daily to ensure that the other inmates have time to use the telephones as well.
Visitation
Before you can visit an inmate in the Honolulu Jail, you will need to make a visitation appointment. All appoints will be accepted on Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.
You will need to be on the inmate’s approved visitor list to be allowed to visit an inmate. You should note that there will be no visits whatsoever when it comes to holidays.
All visits within the Honolulu Jail will be monitored by staff. All visits are non-contact visits as well.
Visits will be limited to 15-minutes and will be held on Sundays. Inmates are only permitted to have one visit every calendar week.
