Bangor, Maine is home to the Women’s Reentry Center. The Women’s Reentry Center is under the operation here at the Maine Department of Corrections.

The Women’s Reentry Center is classified or known as a medium-security state facility that is responsible for the custody of over 38 male offenders daily.

The Women’s Reentry Center is one of the few facilities that is known for their sex offender release program.

What many people do not know about the Women’s Reentry Center is that they have their offenders work on the farm. This farm is where they will produce and grow vegetables alongside working with cattle and the production of milk and meat for a few the state of Maine correctional institutions.

If the inmate is classified in the general population, then they will be housed in an open dormitory style housing unit where the inmates who are in the administrative segregation units will be housed in a cell with one of their fellow inmates.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Women's Reentry Center accepts the following items through the mail:

  • Photographs

When it comes to the magazines, books, and newspapers, you will need to have it shipped to the facility from the store or publisher.

Sending Money

Did your inmate call you or write to you about sending them money? If so, all you will need to do is log on to JPay and use your credit or debit card for payment.

JPay does not require you to leave your home to fund an inmate’s account. The inmate will receive the money immediately after you send it.

Phone calls

Women's Reentry Center inmates are permitted to use the telephones. Inmates will be required to have money in his account to use the telephone to call home.

You can anticipate a phone call from an inmate during the hours of 7 am to 10 pm.


If you are looking to visit a general population inmate in the Women's Reentry Center, you will be allowed on site on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 am to 3 pm.

If you are looking to visit in protective custody (or better known as an administrative segregation inmate) inmate, you will be allowed on site on Saturdays and Sundays between 8 am to 9 am.
