The Steele County Detention Center has the capacity of housing up to 154 male offenders. The Steele County Detention Center also will house female offenders in the Owatonna Courthouse’s third floor. They can only house up to 29 female offenders at one given time.

How to Find Someone in Steele County Detention Center

You have a question or looking for someone that you believe is sitting in the Steele County Detention Center, you will need to pick up the phone and call them at the phone number that is provided on the page for you.
Sending a Mail/Care Package
The cheapest way to stay in contact with an inmate in the Steele County Detention Center is to write to them. You will not be allowed to use or send the following:

Make sure you have your full return address and the inmate’s information on the envelope, or the mail will be refused.
Sending Money
While you may think that the Steele County Detention Center will provide inmates with everything they could ever think of, there will be items and things that the correctional facility will not provide.
When this happens inmates will need funds to purchase said things from the commissary. This is where you will come in.
You will need to go to the commissarydeposit.com. Here you can create an account and deposit funds using your credit and/or debit card. The money will be in the inmate’s account shortly after you finish your deposit.
Phone calls
As of late, the only way an inmate and you can talk via the telephone is if you have a landline. The inmates only way of calling you on the phone is by making collect calls. Collect calls cannot be received on a mobile phone.
If you do not have a landline, you will never get any of the phone calls from a prisoner at the Steele County Detention Center.
Visitation
The visitation schedule is currently not made public. If you would like to visit an inmate, you will need to get in contact with the Steele County Detention Center to find out when their visitation is being held and if you need to make an appointment or not.
If you will be bringing a minor, you will also want to ask what the procedure for that is as well.
