Cranston, Rhode Island is home to the Minimum Security. The Minimum Security is known as a maximum-security state prison that is home to adult male offenders only.

As of today, the Minimum Security is licensed to house over 710 maximum-security male inmates.

The Minimum Security is commonly referred to as Cranston since it sits in the town of Cranston.

The Minimum Security is encompassed by a thirty-foot wall that is made from concrete along with having a few armed guard towers.

The Minimum Security is one of the biggest facilities in all of Rhode Island state.

The Minimum Security has a garment shop that they operate. Inmates from the Minimum Security will have the chance tow or in the garment shop.

Inmates will also be able to partake in one of the following vocational training programs:

  • Horticulture

  • Flooring

  • Masonry

  • Printing

Sending Money

You are more than welcome to send money orders to the facility and from there the correctional officers can deposit them into the inmate’s trust fund account, so the inmate can use them at the commissary or purchase phone cards.

Phone calls

One of the few things an inmate can do is phone home. Inmates will have 15-minutes a day to call their loved ones back home.
